Student ACTIVITES
At Holy Cross, we encourage and support the unique, God-given talents and interests of all our students. We offer a wide variety of clubs and organizations, all designed to inspire our students to enjoy learning, support each other, and build strong character. To find out more about clubs and activities, please contact our school office.
Honors Club
The HCCS Honors Club includes students in grades 4-6 who are recommended by teachers, our principal, or our pastor. Honors students demonstrate academic achievement by maintaining a 4.0 GPA and consistently modeling positive character at school, in the community, and in church functions. Students create specific character goals at the beginning of the year and evaluate success of these goals at the end of the year.
Big Brothers/Big Sisters Program
Students in grades 5 and 6 may participate in the Big Brother/Big Sister Program at HCCS. Students serve as mentors to the children in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten. Big Brothers and Big Sisters provide guidance and set a good example at school events and during school activities. For example, Big Brothers and Sisters escort the younger children to Friday Children's Mass and sit with them to model good mass etiquette.
Children’s Liturgies (Masses)
Students in grades pre-kindergarten through 6th grade participate in the Children’s mass every Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. Parents and all other interested parties are welcome to attend. Classes take turns “hosting” the mass. This includes doing the readings, taking the gifts, serving as ushers, and volunteering as altar servers. Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students host the mass after the first semester to allow them time to learn more about it.
Student Council
The Holy Cross Student Council teaches our kids responsibility, communication, and leadership skills. The student representatives work closely with their own classmates and with the school as a whole. They learn how to work together as a team and how to value the opinions of others. They also learn how to listen and unify various views and ideas.
